Every summer, I’m reminded of one of the many reasons we love sleepaway camp.
The kids spend two weeks completely unplugged, making memories with their friends, staying up too late, and doing all the things they wait for all year long.
And for Matt and me, it creates a rare window where we can actually sneak away together.
This year, we’re taking full advantage of our little camp window and heading to Positano to celebrate my 40th birthday and our 15th wedding anniversary (a few months early).
The reality is that we wouldn’t be able to pull off a trip like this any other time of year. Between school schedules, sports, activities, and the general logistics of raising kids, being gone for more than a weekend just isn’t realistic for us. Knowing the kids are having the time of their lives makes it a whole lot easier for us to enjoy ours too.
The kids get camp. We get Italy.
